POTTERY CLASSES

Welcome to our class offerings. We are excited that you are interested in making things with clay.  All sessions are at our studio - 1816 Mahan Drive. You can choose a single session One Shot on the wheel or dive deeper with our four week classes.  If you do not see a class that you want, consider studio access with an instructor to guide you.  One time group classes for up to 8 people is also an option.  All classes are small and book up quickly but you can cancel 10 days in advance for a full refund. Our classes are for adult learners only - no children.  We look forward to seeing you!

One Shot Wheel Class $45

Fun session turning clay on the wheel. No experience needed. This class is for those who want to try wheel throwing to see if they like it. Your instructor will guide you in a few techniques and let you experience throwing. Great option for a group of friends.

 

We will glaze items you want to keep for an additional $15 each piece. Minimum class size 2 - Max size 7. 

 

Fridays 6:30 to 8:30

Third Saturdays 10:00 to Noon and 2:00 to 4:00

 

Full refunds for cancellations 10 days prior to class.  Under 10 days refunds only if class re-books.

Clay Creations $195

This class will instruct anyone new to clay on how to make functional objects without the wheel. This four week class will have three projects where you learn hand forming techniques.  The final class you glaze your work. All materials included.

Wheel Throwing
Intro to Wheel $195

This is a four week wheel throwing class for beginners.  Classes are once a week for two hours. Each class is limited to seven participants so you will get personal instruction. You will learn to center, create bowls and cylinders, practice trimming and glaze your finished pieces. You can make up to four pieces. All materials and firing included. Maximum 7.

Surface Techniques $195

Surface design is the focus of this four week course.  This is a great class for those who want to enhance their decorating skills while making functional pieces.  You will learn incising, stamping, mono printing and sgraffito on tiles, a tumbler or a plate. The last week will be glazing.  You will be provided with “blank” pieces so you can focus on adding texture and color to the surface. All materials are provided.  Best for students who have some experience.

Open Studio $235

Eight weeks of access to our studio.  Best for those who have completed a few classes or have ceramic experience. You will have full access to wheels, glazes and all hand building equipment. An instructor will be available to answer questions. Includes firing fees. Reclaim clay available for $10 a bag.   

 

Fall Session A: August and September

Just Mugs $195

Mugs are the most popular item made by potters.  This class is for anyone wanting to learn how to make mugs on the wheel which includes pulling and adding handles. All materials are included. You will be able to make up to 4 pieces.

Pottery Class
Journeys in Clay $295

Journeys in Clay is a class for anyone who wants to deepen their knowledge of clay while taking time to focus on their own work.  This six weeks class will meet twice a week.  Monday classes will have an hour presentation with time to plan and sketch. Thursday classes will be for making projects.  Topics include glaze and clay materials, types of firing techniques and best practices for a home studio.  This is a class for those who want to fill in the gaps of their understanding of ceramics.  Ideal for those who have experience with clay and project ideas.  Includes a Saggar firing and all materials. 

September 9th - October 17th
