TCA Potter for Hire Guide

To be a potter for hire, you must live in the Tallahassee Area, be willing to make ceramic work on commission and respond to inquiries professionally.  You are not obligated to take on commissions, but you are expected to be responsive to potential clients. You will be dealing directly with all inquiries.  If you do get a call and are not interested in the work, suggest other potters that may be a better fit.

To begin the process of your listing, send Sue Stelzmann the following:

  • A high-quality photo of yourself – primarily of your face

  • 40 to 75 words describing yourself and the types of items you are willing to make

  • Your contact information including your web page or Esty link which shows examples of your work

Be clear in your description and answer: What type of materials do you use? Do you make pottery, tiles, sculpture? How would you describe your aesthetic? What experience in ceramics distinguishes you? BFA? MFA? Employment in a ceramics studio? Awards? Previous commissions? Do you respond quickly? Open to large orders? Do you mind doing small projects? Do you provide studio services such as kilns firing, instructions or consultation? What do you specialize in?  - Clear, concise wording
