POTTERY CLASSES

Welcome to our class offerings. We are excited that you are interested in making things with clay.  All sessions are at our studio - 1816 Mahan Drive. You can choose a single day Workshop or Maker Day or dive deeper with our four week classes. All classes are small and book up quickly but you can cancel 10 days in advance for a full refund. Adults only please for most classes; Maker Days are 14+. We look forward to seeing you!

OneShots
One Shot Wheel Class $40

Fun session turning clay on the wheel. No experience needed. This class is for those who want to try wheel throwing to see if they like it. Your instructor will guide you in a few techniques and let you experience throwing. Great option for a group of friends.

 

We will glaze items you want to keep for an additional $15 each piece. Minimum class size 2 - Max size 6. 

 

Fridays 6:30 to 8:30

Third Saturdays 10:00 to Noon and 2:00 to 4:00

 

Full refunds for cancellations 10 days prior to class.  Under 10 days refunds only if class re-books.

Intro to Wheel $175

This is a four week wheel throwing class for beginners.  Classes are once a week for two hours. Each class is limited to six participants so you will get personal instruction. You will learn to center, create bowls and cylinders, practice trimming and glaze your finished pieces. You can make up to four pieces. All materials and firing included. Maximum 6.

Wheel Throwing $175

This class is for those who want to build their wheel throwing skills. Your instructor will individualize instruction so you can practice aspect of wheel throwing you need to improve. This is the next step from Intro to Wheel or for those who have experience. All materials are included.

Surface Techniques $175

Surface design is the focus of this four week course.  This is a great class for those who want to enhance their decorating skills while making functional pieces.  You will learn incising, stamping, carving, burnishing and sgraffito as you make a set of coasters, a tumbler and a bowl. The last week will be glazing.  You will be provided with “blank” pieces so you can focus on adding texture and color to your work. All materials are provided.

Wednesday Evenings 6:30 - 8:30 in February 2024

LiddedVessel
Lidded Jars $175

Adding a lid to a jar elevates it's usefulness and beauty. In this class you will learn how to throw forms and create fitted lids with galleries and flanges. Best for those who have some experience throwing. All materials are included.

Thursdays evenings 6:30-8:30 in March 2024

ClayCreations
Clay Creations $175

This class will instruct anyone new to clay on how to make functional objects without the wheel. You will have three project that may include a pocket planter, a box, or a set of nesting dishes. Project will change to suit all participants especially if you are taking this class again. You will learn hand forming clay techniques that are fun to do. The final class you will glaze your work. All materials included.

Open Studio $100 / month

If you have taken a wheel class and want to continue learning on your own, Open Studio is ideal. You will always have an instructor available to help you and will have access to the entire studio during your session. Monthly Open Studio does not include clay or firing fees. Makeup sessions are available with prior arrangements.

Presentations $10

Learn more about specific topics in ceramics in these two hour presentations.  14+ are welcome.  Maximum 15.

Maker Days $40/$50

Enjoy making specific clay items without a wheel.  These classes are ideal for beginners and small groups of friends to enjoy a Saturday morning crafting with clay. 14+ are welcome.  Return a few weeks later to glaze your work.  Maximum 8.

Just Mugs  $175

Mugs are the most popular item made by potters.  This class is for anyone wanting to learn how to make mugs on the wheel which includes pulling and adding handles. All materials are included. You will be able to make up to 4 pieces.
